Sporidesmiales

Sporidesmiales Crous

Index Fungorum numberIF 825433

Sporidesmiales was introduced by Crous et al. (2018) and presently only contains Sporidesmiaceae with a single genus. Taxa are saprobic on woody debris in terrestrial and aquatic habitats or mycoparasites of fungi. The divergence time for Sporidesmiales is estimated as 81 MYA, which is evidence of family status but ranking it as an order may need revision following further study. Currently there is one family and one genus in this order
